Project lead: Dr Richard McGrath, Dr Janette Young & Dr Caroline Adams
This project is seeking to develop an understanding of the connections between leisure and health.

Sport for Development
Project lead: Dr Richard McGrath
This project is seeking to develop an evidence base from which to understand the impacts and outcomes of using sport as a social development tool. To date evidence indicates the use of sport as a social development tool has positive outcomes for participants, volunteers as well as local communities.
Tourism and Wellbeing
Project leads: Dr Richard McGrath, Dr Janette Young & Dr Caroline Adams
The aim of this study has been to develop deeper understandings concerning the positive aspects of mental health and wellbeing through exploring tourism experiences.
This study has adopted a mixed methods approach. A 'Tourism and Wellbeing Survey'adapted from the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS) has been used to ascertain a broad understanding of how tourists 'feel' while on holiday. Semi-structured interviews with tourists about their travel experiences have been built around key points of clarification emerging from the survey data collected top date.
